Human Resources

This 12-week online program is designed to give human resource specialists new tools for successful performance on the job. The course provides a solid foundation for managing HR challenges, supplies a current reference of HR practices and strengthens individual competencies. Utilizing the new 2008 study materials of the Society for Human Resource Management's Human Resource Learning System, the course also helps prepare human resource professionals to take either the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) exam or the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) exam toward certification by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

Program Outline

Master Certificate in Human Resource Management
Managers and human resource specialists benefit by interactive study with their peers while learning from highly experienced practitioners on the pressing issues faced by HR professionals. Managing employees is critical to every organization’s success. To be an effective HR leader, you not only need to understand complex concepts such as strategic management, workforce planning, human resource development and organizational management, but you’ll also need the practical skills to implement these concepts. If you want to become a more effective leader and make a real impact in your organization’s bottom line, then the Master Certificate in Human Resource Management is just the ticket.

By completing both human resource courses and one other Villanova University online elective course, you’ll gain extensive knowledge of advanced HR concepts and competencies, as well as the practical skills to put your knowledge to work. Electives include: Strategic Organizational Leadership, Finance and Accounting for the Non-Financial Manager, Essentials of Project Management, Project Management for IS/IT Professionals, Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Six Sigma, Essentials of Commercial Contract Management, Essentials of Government Contract Management, Essentials of IS Security and Essentials of Business Analysis.

What Students Are Saying

“I found as I moved from Administrative Assistant for the hospital to my new role as HR Director, I needed to ‘boot up’ as much information as I could, in as quick a time period as I could. After contacting a number of online educational groups, I found that Villanova had the most to offer. I can’t say enough good things about how immediately responsive they were in keeping me informed and answering my questions.”
