Bachelor of Science Computer Information Systems

As new technologies become more complex and the need for more customized applications increases, demand for computer specialists is expected to continue to grow. Florida Tech’s Bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems focuses on the technical knowledge, skill sets and best practices necessary to compete in today's ever-changing computer field.

Some of the courses that make up this degree program include: Essential Business Skills, Decision Support Systems, Electronic Commerce and Network Theory and Design. These courses, along with courses in PC applications, writing, mathematics and science, round out a broad-based learning experience designed to help you succeed now and in the future.

Essential Business Skills (EBA 3321)
Explores the nature of the organization’s communications environments. Provides an understanding and practical experience about the various strategies and formats available when developing responsive communications in organizational situations.

Decision Support Systems (CIS 3315)
Provides the knowledge and skills necessary to create applications, collect data and manage databases. Includes the theory of decisions and decision analysis, including probability and risk-taking. Uses commercial decision support and graphics software to prepare business packages such as forecasting, linear programming and decision trees

Electronic Commerce (CIS 3318)
Includes the role of the Internet and the web in electronic commerce. Examines web server hardware and software tools. Addresses electronic payment, security, the regulatory environment and web-based marketing.

Network Theory and Design (CIS 4415)
Covers the theory, design and application of networks. Includes creation and operation of an actual network.
